Inspired by heroic fantasy fiction, Tiny Barbarian DX combines engaging 2D platform action and combo-based hack-and-slash combat with retro-style pixel art and a loincloth-stirring chiptune soundtrack.

Tiny Barbarian DX is now officially complete! The current version includes all four Episodes, new unlockable game modes and an all-new two-player cooperative mode to double your barbarian brawn!

Graphics

Tiny Barbarian DX

Like many Indie games, they choose to go for the retro style. The thing about retro-style art is that some people do it completely wrong.

Tiny Barbarian does everything right. This feels like it could’ve been on an old school 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System but with better and clearer graphics. You can see exactly what everything is and what everything is supposed to be and look like. While it has the look of a retro game it looks and feels way more modern which is a good thing. Retro with a slightly modern twist would be a good way to explain the graphical feel of the game.

Gameplay and Controls

Tiny Barbarian DX

Climbing, Elbow Dropping, Jumping, Fighting, and Puzzle Solving. That sums up the gameplay portion of Tiny Barbarian.

The controls are fantastic, and you only die IF you mess up. There are no cheap deaths only whenever you the player screw up. There are several fun boss fights.

Tons of little secrets hidden in each and every corner of the maps.  It is highly recommended that you go into option and select to automatically grab onto corners.

I believe that is the only funky control is having to grab ahold ledges. Selecting to automatically grabs makes for smoother gameplay and easier control.

Audio

This might be the strongest part of this game. I love chiptunes and Tiny Barbarian has a killer soundtrack.

I found myself totally getting into the music from the beginning of the game.  I’ll leave a few of my favorite picked out tracks here you can listen to them yourself.

Tiny Barbarian DX Steam Review Conclusion

Tiny Barbarian DX

Tiny barb is a fanstaic indie adventure game. I’m going to put it into a list I’m currently working. Top 10 indie games to put on a flash drive!

The game is currently complete now and has 4 full levels to go through. If you are looking for a fun and simple adventure game then you cannot go wrong. Everyone loves being an awesome barbarian anyways.

Retro style graphics running on modern hardware is always great in my book. Great game play and can play on anything that has a modern. You don’t have to spend tons of money on the fanciest video cards and cpus. You can still get quality games with retro indie games like Tiny Barbarian DX and still claim to be a Proud PC gamer.

Since the games full release you have 4 different adventures or maps. Plus! You get a survival mode which is introduced to you right at the beginning.

Tiny Barbarian is one of those you can’t go wrong with if you are looking for a new adventure to go on.

The Kentuckynerd Kingdom gives Tiny Barbarian the big green thumbs up!
